I love Brian Burke. How can you not love the guy? If it wasn't for him, Sean Avery, and Jeremy Roenick there would be no personality at all in the league. He always says what's on his mind and doesn't care what anyone else thinks about it.
He's probably the closest thing the NHL has to a football coach. Burkie's definitely got some Bill Parcells in him. He might not always say the right thing, but it's what he believes and you can't convince him otherwise. It keeps him in the news. He brings attention to himself and attention the league and I think that's a great thing.
When he isn't dissing the media, he keeps busy by ripping on Kevin Lowe whenever he gets the chance. Obviously he was bitter about losing Dustin Penner to the Oilers. I wonder how he feels now that Penner has been a huge dissapointment and found a home in Craig MacTavish's doghouse?
I hope someone asks him this question at his debut press conference. I would almost pay someone to do it. He'll automatically hate the guy for his entire time in TO and it might make Burkie explode to new levels never before seen.
When he becomes the Leafs new general manager it won't change the way I feel about the franchise. No matter what happens with the Leafs, I will never be a fan. I would never miss a press conference though after he gets named. Even as a member of the Leafs organization, I'll always be a Brian Burke fan.
